Lyfe H2O was birthed from the desire to have safe, tasty water wherever we travelled. Tired of supply chain shortages that kept us waiting without hope of ever receiving a system and “out of stock” notices on almost ever gravity filtration website we visited, Mike looked at Alyssa one day and said, “how hard would it be to make our own?”
Combining our engineering, sourcing and mechanical skills, we sought out the highest quality materials, with filtration components that exceed rigorous NSF testing standards, all to ensure we would have the cleanest and best tasting, purified water readily available for us and our travel loving lifestyle.
Thus the first LyfeH2O system, we thought was going to be the only system, was born.
This has been an unexpected adventure from day one. We posted a picture of the system we created for ourselves in December 2020 and within one weeks time we had several friends asking how they could get one for themselves and their families.
For many years, we have known about the toxicity in tap water, well water and water bottles alike. This knowledge drove our desire for a cleaner alternative.
We honestly had no idea how many others were seeking a portable and affordable solution to this problem as well. We are big believers in positive energy and recognizing signs, plus now we had orders to fulfill. So we took our prototype to glass and stainless steel manufacturers to help us scale our invention and make it market ready.

What Are Gravity Filters
Most gravity filters today are portable applications. They require no electricity or pumps of any kind, which make them ideal for camping and emergency preparedness and survival situations.
For centuries societies have leveraged ceramics to filter sediment and pathogens out of drinking water. This technology dates back to the Roman empire. Carbon based filters remove most contaminants without removing essential minerals like calcium and magnesium.
Lyfe H2O systems utilize both carbon and ceramic, combined with the best materials science technology today to deliver the cleanest filtration possible without sacrificing the benefits of “living” water in its natural state.
How Lyfe H2O Filters Are Different
The outer ceramic shell acts as a pre-filter, which allows water to pass through tiny 0.2 micron pores of the membrane. This removes any solid sediment like sand as well as smaller contaminants like bacteria, fungi and algae. The workhorse of LyfeH2O’s filter is the proprietary blend of granulated activated carbon (GAC) media inside the ceramic housing.
These are all-in-one filters. They require no priming or any additional filters to remove fluoride.
The majority of gravity-fed water systems on the market use carbon filters that are predominantly made in China or India, that could be made from anything from bone-char or even coal carbon! Our filters are made to precise specifications in a manufacturing facility in England and are composed completely from plant and mineral derived carbon.
The large surface area of the carbon’s crystalline structure allows water to flow over the media and through a process called adsorption, which neutralizes charged particles like metallics at an atomic level rendering those toxins inert and others are absorbed by the porous GAC.
Lyfe H2O systems filter contaminants down to 0.05 microns, this is also the reason for the flow rate being one a gallon per hour, it takes a little time to make delicious tasting, pure clean water.

Q. How long does LyfeH2O Filters last?
A. In an average size house hold the filter will filter up to 1,000 gallons or an average of 6 to 12 months depending on water quality.
Q. How is Lyfe H2O Different from Other Gravity Systems?
A. Although LyfeH2O operates similar to other gravity fed systems ours differs. LyfeH2O systems are designed with a luxury household feel. We use a Lead free borosilicate glass basin and a durable rust free stainless steel reservoir with a convenient carrying handle. Other systems use industrial stainless steel basins that are not appealing for most homes, not easy to fill, carry or trasport and due to lack of sight on the water line are often overflowed. Our glass provides delicious tasting water without any metallic taste and no mess on your countertop.
Q. Is the Lyfe H2O Filter system worth it?
A. Yes. If you have a known issue with pesticide runoff, chlorine or fluoride municipal treatment processes, lead or other metals in your water. The LyfeH2O System is worth investigating as an affordable, convenient frontline measure to ensure nontoxic drinking and cooking water. Especially if you’re considering a treatment system that is portable and works without any electricity or pumps.
Q. Do gravity water filters work?
A. Yes to varying degrees. For LyfeH2O filters are so effective because of the materials used and how they are assembled. While the water is being filtered, larger particles are being stopped by the outer ceramic pre-filter. Here the silver in this pre-filter layer helps kill pathogens. Inside the filter smaller particles like metals and microplastics are cleansed and removed from the water by precision milled granulated activated carbon. The result, clean drinking water. Most importantly, gravity filters systems do a great job of making water accessible and safe to drink in non-sanitary conditions . The best gravity water filters provide clean drinking water quickly and efficiently.
Q. How does gravity based water purifier work?
A. In gravity-based purification, water is filled in a top container (stores input water) and slowly seeps through the micropores of a filter, removing harmful contaminates from the source water. The purified water ends up in a lower container (stores filtered water) due solely to the effects of gravity. They fall under the non-electric water purifiers category because they do not need to be connected to any power source to purify water.
Q. Do generic filters actually purify water?
A. In a word, no. generic type filters are designed to take out waterborne contaminants such as chemicals, and to remove sediment. They aren’t at all intended to “purify” water or remove biological nasties such as giardia. So, get a filter that’s designed for backcountry and camping use.
